Math:
This week in math the students will be solving a variety of word problems involving perimeter and/or area. They will determine which operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) is needed to solve the word problems.
Example problem of solving for area and perimeter:
Practice solving multiplication and division problems.
Solve 2 and 3 step word problems involving all four operations.
Round numbers to nearest 10's and 100's using vertical number lines.
Practice partitioning objects and identifying equivalent fractions.
Solve problems involving area and perimeter.

This week in science we will begin to classify flowering and nonflowering plants into major groups such as those that produce seeds and those like ferns that produce spores.
