ELA:
There will not be a vocabulary quiz this week.
Over the next two weeks, we will be finishing The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and will be focusing on the benchmarks that will be addressed on the upcoming CGA assessment.
One key idea we will work on is that some words have multiple meanings. Words with multiple meanings are words with more than one meaning. Like homographs... these words have different meanings and can be used in different ways. In order to figure out which word you should use and what it means, you have to read the sentence and use the context clues around the work. For example, read the sentence below with the word, wild.
When observing birds in nature, scientists think that the white material reminds birds of cotton fluff they find in the wild.
Which sentence below uses the word wild the same way it is used in the sentence above?
a.
The wild kitten would not let us pet it.
b.
My uncle makes us laugh with his wild stories.
c.
The swimmer enjoyed playing in the wild waves.
d. While walking in the wild, we saw the most beautiful flowers growing.***
Math:
The next 2 weeks, we will be reviewing for the upcoming 2nd quarter assessment. We will review patterns, combinations, and fractions (modeling, equivalent, comparing & ordering). Be on the lookout for these review papers, consider making additional review problems for your child to practice.
