Math:
This week in math the students will conclude their module 5 studies.  The students will decompose whole number fractions greater than one using whole number equivalence with various models.  They will explain equivalence by manipulating units and reasoning about their size.  The students will compare fractions with the same numerator pictorially and by using the greater than, less than, or equal to symbols and use a model to reason about their size.

Example of comparing fractions pictorially:

Things to do at home:
Continue to review multiplication and division math facts
Practice partitioning items into equal parts
Practice drawing simple two-dimensional rectangular shapes and calculating the area using multiplication
Continue to practice telling time and solving elapsed problems ("How many minutes have passed since you started homework?")
Use knowledge of place value to round 2, 3, 4 digit numbers to nearest 10's and 100's
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations (multiplication, division, subtraction, and addition)

Math:
This week in math the students will be able to recognize and show that equivalent fractions refer to the same point on the number line.  They will generate simple equivalent fractions by using visual models and the number line.  The students will express whole numbers as fractions and recognize equivalence with different units.  They will express whole number fractions on the number line when the unit interval is 1.
